As our newestEnvironmental Risk Assessor, you will playan important rolein supporting this mission.

Working within our national Risk Assessment team, you will contribute to a variety of complex environmental projects while applying your regulatory knowledge and continuing to expand yourexpertisein provincial and federal requirements. In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and regulators to develop technical scopes of work, prepare proposals, and support the successful management and delivery of projects.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include

  • Develop and deliver human health and ecological risk assessments, risk management plans, performance verification plans, etc.in accordance withprovincial, territorial, and federal regulatory frameworks

  • Support proposal development, including contributing to project scoping, planning, and budgeting activities.

  • Evaluate site-specific physical characteristics, environmental data, receptor exposure assumptions, and toxicity information to inform the development of exposure and risk models.

  • Prepare detailed conceptual site models byconsolidatingand interpreting field data, laboratory results, and other relevant site and receptor information.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare high-quality technical reports and effectively communicate findings to clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.

  • Contribute to proposal writing and provide technical support to projects led by other disciplines, such as site assessment and ecology.

  • Mentor and support junior staff, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in biology, toxicology, chemistry, soil science, geoscience, or related scientific field.

  • This position is suited for anintermediate environmentalrisk assessor who is comfortable leading technical components of projects while continuing to expand theirexpertisein risk assessment and regulatory frameworks.

  • 5 to10+ years of experience in preparing high-quality human health and/or ecological risk assessments for a variety of audiences including clients and other stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and regulators.

  • Hands-on experience in environmental data collection and evaluation, including the design and implementation of community surveys.

  • Strong analytical skills, withdemonstratedproficiencyin data management, spreadsheet development, and automation.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams, prepare clear technical reports, and develop engaging presentation materials.

  • Experiencewithscopedevelopment, budgeting, and proposalpreparation.

  • Working knowledge of biological and toxicological studies (e.g., benthic community assessments, toxicitytestsetc.), an asset.

  • Experience with risk assessments underO.Reg. 153/04,an asset.

  • Experience with soilvapourand indoor air quality assessments at contaminated sites,an asset.,

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to occasionally travel to sites/clients

  • Membership or eligibility for membership in a professional organization (e.g.,R.P.Bio.,P.Geo., P.Eng.,P.Ag.,P.Chem., or QPRA).
