Project Manager - Construction
Store Support Center

We are searching for an experienced Project Manager - Construction for our StoreSupport Center located at 600 Citadel Drive, Commerce, CA, 90040.
SUMMARY
Manages the newconstruction and remodel projects to ensure an orderly completion of projectsin accordance with all existing corporate and departmental policies andprocedures, as well as strategic development plans.
ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Performsother duties as assigned or required.
  • Responsible for initialand on-going physical inspection of the job sites as well as meetings withcontractors as necessary to insure adherence to plans, specifications,schedule, and budget. Quality of the final construction and timely completionis a MAJOR responsibility of the Construction Project Manager. Has completeauthority to control quality of construction as per good constructiontechniques in adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Participates indeveloping preliminary estimated costs for new sites being considered fordevelopment, including all expected costs for building on-site and off-siteimprovements.
  • Coordinates with thearchitect and Store Design to ensure that the building plans are correct andmodified to meet local requirements prior to submission for building permit ordistribution to general contractors for bidding a specific job.
  • Reviews and analyzesconstruction estimates for conformance to approved organizational budgets.
  • Ensures orderlyadministration of project related paperwork.
  • Reviews allconstruction invoices, guarantees their accuracy, and maintains on-goingProject Budget Summary showing costs to date versus approved budget.
  • Coordinates between theGeneral Contractor and all construction suppliers to ensure timely delivery andinstallation of critical components to the job site (i.e. fixtures/equipment,refrigeration, HVAC, signage, etc.).
  • Coordinates between theGeneral Contractor and all internal Smart & Final departments (Operations,Merchandising, IS, etc.) to ensure timely installation of systems and turnoverfor stocking and grand opening.
  • Responsible forpunch-list and one-year warranty walk through with General Contractor, vendors,and all S&F departments to list any items that remain to be completed.Responsible for completion of all punch-list items.
  • Responsible for weeklystatus reporting (or more frequently as needed) of projects to SVP ofConstruction, Director of Construction, and Manager of Field Operations.
  • At the conclusion ofeach project, coordinates that the close-out book, as-built plans, and siteplans are received and filed. Ensures that all pertinent project notes anddocuments are assembled in the permanent project file.
  • Executes Work Ordersand reviews the corresponding Change Orders from the General Contractors.
  • Coordinates activities with ConstructionCoordinator in administrative functions as necessary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor'sdegree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university (orequivalent combination of education and experience); and five to ten yearsrelated commercial/retail construction administration experience is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Construction Project Management Certification or similarcertifications are desirable.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Mustby PC proficient and be available for overnight travel to construction sites.
COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is$90,000.00 to $110,000.00. The actual starting pay will be determined by anumber of qualifications; including, experience and relevant skills.
