Job description

Come be a part of the future of Sleep Medicine! Join our Epoch & Clinical team and help us improve the lives of countless patients suffering from sleep apnea! We're on a mission to make a positive impact on the lives of patients living with sleep disorders by simplifying the complex process from diagnosis to treatment.
The Night Sleep Technician will be able to work 3 twelve-hour shifts overnight at our Lincoln, RI location (6 Blackstone Valley Place Building 7, Suite 707, Lincoln, RI 02865). The Night Sleep Technician is responsible for preparing and conducting sleep studies in accordance with established protocols, including verifying medical orders, educating patients, and ensuring proper equipment setup and calibration. It also involves applying sensors, monitoring equipment, and supporting patients through the process, whether in-center or through Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT). The expectation of this position is to provide a first-class patient experience, with every patient interaction.
  • Prepare for sleep studies by reviewing patient history, verifying medical orders, and following established sleep center protocols.
  • Greet patients, verify identification, collect necessary documentation, and obtain informed consent for sleep studies.
  • Provide clear explanations of procedures and deliver age-appropriate patient education for in-center or Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT).
  • Select, calibrate, and adjust sleep study equipment to ensure proper functionality prior to testing.
  • Apply electrodes and sensors in accordance with published standards and protocols.
  • Perform positive airway pressure (PAP) interface fitting and patient desensitization procedures.
  • Conduct sleep studies including MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, PAP titration, and oxygen titration according to established protocols.
  • Perform physiological calibrations and monitor real-time data quality, identifying and correcting artifacts during acquisition.
  • Document sleep stages, clinical events, procedural changes, and other observations to support accurate scoring and interpretation.
  • Implement appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety and therapeutic effectiveness (e.g., oxygen administration, PAP adjustments).
  • Complete post-study "lights on" procedures, including final calibrations and collection of patient questionnaires.
  • Assist in scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events in alignment with AASM standards.
  • Generate accurate preliminary reports by tabulating and summarizing sleep data and events.
  • Demonstrate age-appropriate care and communication with patients across all age groups, from neonatal to geriatric patients.
  • Prepare, clean, and disinfect HSAT equipment; instruct patients on proper home use and ensure proper data download and review.
  • Identify and document HSAT data quality issues, such as artifacts or study failures, and assist in generating accurate reports.
  • Perform routine equipment care and maintenance, and inventory evaluation.
  • Adhere to sleep center policies related to quality assurance.
