The Mechatronics Engineer works closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to support the design, documentation, testing, and continuous improvement of custom laboratory automation systems. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining 2D/3D mechanical designs, electrical drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation, while also supporting production, testing, installation, troubleshooting, and R&D activities, including maintenance of in-house test equipment.
This is a highly hands-on, documentation-focused position requiring strong SolidWorks experience and a solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, communicates effectively, takes ownership of their work, and thrives in a collaborative engineering environment, with occasional travel required to support customer installations and field service activities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Create, revise, and maintain 2D/3D SolidWorks models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, electrical schematics, BOMs, and related engineering documentation for custom automation equipment.
Support senior engineers with product development, design revisions, R&D projects, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring accurate documentation and data management within SolidWorks PDM.
Assist with assembly, testing, debugging, validation, and troubleshooting of automation systems, including maintenance and upgrades of in-house test equipment and test benches.
Collaborate with engineering, software, robotics, manufacturing, and build teams to execute projects and communicate technical updates effectively.
Travel to customer sites to support installations, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Depending on the needs of the business, the ability to work more than 40 hours/week and/or weekends may be required. Overtime will not be paid for hours worked over 40 hours/week.
