Job description

“REACHing for Tomorrow by Preparing Today”

Instructional Assistant Position

Spokane International Academy (SIA) is seeking passionate, mission-driven Instructional Assistants who aspire to become future educators. At SIA, the Instructional Assistant (IA) role is intentionally designed as an entry point into the education profession. We view this position as a launchpad for individuals who are exploring or preparing for a career in teaching and who are committed to entering a teacher preparation program within the next three to five years.

Instructional Assistants work alongside experienced educators to develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for success in the classroom. Through hands-on experience, coaching, and meaningful responsibility, IAs gain valuable experience supporting students, collaborating with teachers, and contributing to a high-performing school community.

While some schools utilize instructional assistants as long-term support positions, SIA's model is designed to cultivate future teachers. As a result, most individuals do not remain in the IA role beyond several years, instead transitioning into teacher preparation programs, certification pathways, and eventually leading teaching positions.
