    Job Function:

    The Assistant Store Manager is accountable to the Store Director and is responsible in the Specific Store Departments for maximizing sales and gross profit, protection of company assets, store conditions, presentation, control of losses, and contributes to the company's operating objectives. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible to maintain store conditions with Shopper Centricity and Loyalty as the key motivator in making decisions while focusing on improving overall profitability. To manage and train associates to prepare and stock products in the manner prescribed by the company and department standards (i.e. size, quality and CGO). To execute efficient operating and merchandising programs while maintaining quality and sanitation control to generate profits.

    Essential Job Duties:

    Associates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the duties, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.     • Adhere to the posted schedule and work shifts as per applicable direct reports scheduling.
    • Adhere and comply with all store rules, company policies, safety requirements, security standards and all local, state, federal, health and civil code regulations.
    • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance
    • Prioritize daily task as you serve our customers to meet our Service Priorities of Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency.
    • Demonstrate the foundations of Shopper Loyalty through professionalism, commitment to service, reaching resolutions, making shoppers feel trusted, welcome, important, special and pleased.
    • Supervise Nonperishable Department, including assignment of daily activities and scheduling.
    • Expected to use the following but not limited to technologies on a daily basis preparing reports, sign making, using word processing or other software, track inventory using supply chain management software, type correspondence, summaries, reports, presentations or communicate using electronic mail.
    • Prioritize daily tasks as you serve our customers to meet our Service Priorities of Safety, Friendliness, Presentation and Efficiency.
    • Observe store rules and company policies.
    • Maintains store conditions per company standard to improve profitability.
    • Maximizes department sales and profits.
    • Develops and maintains a team concept to improve associate morale, communication, union relations and ultimately, working conditions.
    • Maximizes store profits and gross profit margins.
    • Oversees the execution of shrink project books and maintains daily purchase to sales information.
    • Responsible for overseeing all assets ordered with careful attention to achieving company goals for backroom inventory levels.
    • Achieves or surpasses productivity and payroll goals in each department.
    • Maintains customer service levels according to company standards.
    • Complies with company and governmental sanitation standards.
    • Ensures weekly on-hand inventory goals through proper ordering practices.
    • Manages the recruitment, development, training and counseling of all associates.
    • Manages others and adhere to company human resource and personnel policies as well as state and federal laws.
    • Establish a working relationship with all support staff and supervisors.
    • Develop a daily/weekly workload plan, coordinate responsibilities and follow through to maximize results.
    • Responsible for maintaining an effective buy in program.
    • Develops and executes merchandising plan weekly to mirror company advertising themes and programs.
    • Ensures proper maintenance and safe use of equipment.
    • Ensure proper usage compliance and handling of all supplies.
    • Responsible for opening or closing store, where applicable.
    • Establish community involvement.
    • Manage 10-15 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 125-200 associates in the store.
    • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of respective store.
    • Supervises 125-200 non-supervisory associates
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
    • Interviewing, hiring, and training associates
    • Planning, assigning and directing work
    • Appraising performance
    • Awarding and discipline associates
    • Addressing complaints and resolving problems

    Education, Experience and Skills Required:

    • Associate's degree (A.A.) from two - year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Ability to read, write and speak English
    • Ability to perform and execute concepts of basic algebra and geometry as it pertains to discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, area, circumference and volume.
    • Ability to train and direct people
    • ServSafe Certification required or approved equivalent
