360X Staffing is hiring for Steel Fitters in Palatka, FL.

Pay: $27/hr + $130 daily per diem for days worked

Basic Purpose and Function:We are seeking experienced Steel Fitters / Shipfitters to support the new construction of ships at a shipyard in Palatka, FL. Candidates will be responsible for fitting, aligning, preparing, and installing structural steel components according to drawings, measurements, and shipyard specifications. Responsibilities:

  • Fit and align structural steel components for ship construction.
  • Perform oxy-fuel torch cutting of steel to required dimensions.
  • Wash bevels with a cutting torch to prepare joints for welding.
  • Grind, clean, and prepare steel surfaces and weld joints.
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints, drawings, and measurements.
  • Use hand tools, grinders, clamps, squares, levels, and other fitting equipment.
  • Assist welders with proper fit-up, alignment, and joint preparation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Follow all shipyard safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous shipfitting or structural steel fitting experience preferred.
  • Must be proficient with an oxy-fuel cutting torch, including washing bevels.
  • Strong grinding and steel preparation skills.
  • Must have and be proficient with common shipfitter hand tools.
  • Ability to read basic drawings and measurements.
  • Ability to work safely in confined, elevated, and challenging shipyard environments.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance required.
  • Must be able to pass any required shipyard testing, safety orientation, and drug screening.

Working Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Working Hours: 50+ hours per week
