About This Role

Shandon Weekday School is seeking a passionate and dedicated School Age Teacher to join our team. School age students attend from 2:15pm to 6pm Monday through Friday as well as holidays and early dismissals from Richland School District One.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners. This role involves developing and implementing engaging lessons, promoting childhood development, and ensuring the well-being of each child in the classroom. The position is Monday-Friday, 2pm-6pm with the potential of adding more hours by picking up substitute shifts or working in a nap room.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lessons that align with educational standards
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment
  • Provide individualized support for children with special needs
  • Foster communication skills among students through interactive activities and group discussions
  • Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Collaborate with parents and guardians to support child welfare and development
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practices
  • Represent the program with professionalism and respect both on campus and in the community

Requirements
  • Minimum of high school diploma but Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
  • Experience working with children in a school or camp setting preferred
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff
  • Ability to plan fun activities and field trips

Nice To Haves
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Ability to work with children from 5K through 8th grade
  • If over the age of 25, applicants have the ability to drive a 14 passenger van.
