Shades Industrial Forklift is a family owned forklift shop in Crawfordsville, Indiana. We're growing, and we're hiring a B-Tech or an A-Tech.

Our shop is run by technicians, for technicians.

THE BASICS

Pay: B-Tech $30 to $40/hr. A-Tech $40 to $50 and up.

Status: Full time, hourly

Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with some overtime and after hours calls

Location: 8043 W 450 S, Crawfordsville, IN 47933

Reports to: Service Manager

Bonus: Eligible for our shop commission and bonus program

WHO WE ARE

Shades Industrial is a forklift dealer and repair shop serving Montgomery County and the surrounding region. We do repair, sales, parts, and rentals.

We treat customers like family, we respond with urgency, and we shoot straight.

This is a place where good techs grow. We have a written career path, C to B to A to Lead, with a checklist for each level and a raise attached to it. Hit the numbers, live the values, move up.

TWO LEVELS, ONE POSTING

We're open to either one. Where you land depends on what you can actually do, not on your last job title.

B-TECHNICIAN  ($30 to $40/hr)

You can handle:

- Complex hydraulic, electrical, and drivetrain repairs
- Transmission rebuilds, clutch and torque converter work
- IC gas and LP engine overhauls
- Valve body rebuilds, cylinder reseals, pumps
- Full mast rebuilds
- Scan tools and a multimeter, fluently (Jaltest, Launch, or OEM)
- Service manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics

You can run a tough field call solo, write a clean work order, and show a C-tech how it's done.

Usually 3 to 5 years on forklifts, heavy equipment, diesel, or comparable mechanical work.

A-TECHNICIAN  ($40 to $50 and up per hour)

Everything above, plus:

- The hardest diagnostics across every make and power type
- Intermittent electrical faults, CAN bus, controllers
- Electric forklift drive and control systems
- Advanced fuel and emissions work
- Live data and controller programming

You're the tech other techs call when they're stuck. You set the quality standard, you mentor the B and C techs, and you take the customers everyone else is nervous about.

Usually 7 or more years, with real depth in 2 or 3 major OEMs (Mitsubishi, Toyota, Hyster-Yale, Cat, Crown).

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM EVERYBODY

Honest. No ego. If you don't know something, say so.

Reliable. You show up, ready to work.

Proud of your finished work. Clean truck, clean paperwork, clean fix.

Good with customers. Polite, patient, professional.

Valid driver's license, able to lift 50 lbs or more, and willing to work both shop and field conditions.

HOW WE RUN THE SHOP

Every tech here is measured on the same three numbers: billable efficiency, approved tech quotes, and comebacks. Targets get tougher as you move up. The rules are the same for everybody.

Reviews are every 90 days your first year, quarterly after that.

If performance slips, we don't level you down. We coach, or we part ways.
