Role Description The Part-Time Payroll Specialist will manage day-to-day payroll activities to ensure accurate and timely compensation for employees. This on-site role is based in the Columbus, Ohio Metropolitan Area and requires close coordination with HR and management to process payroll, handle deductions, and maintain payroll records. Responsibilities include entering and verifying employee time and pay data, calculating wages, managing garnishments, and ensuring compliance with payroll tax regulations. The Specialist will respond to employee payroll inquiries, support audits, and assist with improving payroll workflows and documentation. Although this is a part-time position, the role requires consistency, attention to detail, and accountability in all payroll-related tasks.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Payroll Processing and Payroll Administration skills to manage regular payroll cycles accurately.
  • Candidates should possess experience with Payroll Taxes and Payroll Services to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of Garnishments and related deductions to correctly apply court-ordered or statutory withholdings.
  • Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and proficiency with payroll software and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain organized records.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with employees and internal stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in payroll, accounting, or finance; an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with transportation, logistics, or trucking industry operations is a plus.
