Position Description
Position Summary: Install, maintain and inspect various electrical systems
Job Functions:
- Execute blueprints of electrical wiring for lighting, intercom and other electrical systems
- Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems
- Install safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
- Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
- Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
- Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
- Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units
- Complete necessary job-related paperwork
Position Requirements
- Successfully pass criminal background check, pre-employment and random drug screen
- Completion of nationally recognized 4-year electrical apprentice program or equivalent work experience
- Maintain a positive attitude and treat others with upmost respect
- Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems
- Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines including but not limited to local, state and national electrical codes
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work long shifts and overnight
- Use reason, logic and good judgment in making decisions and solving problems
- Good mathematics skills
- Verbally communicate with supervision, other trades, supervised employees, inspectors, owners, and customers
- Maintain a neat, clean, professional appearance
- Continuously stand, walk & squat
- Climb ladders & stairs
- Reach with upper extremities
- Utilize upper extremities for handling various tools, procedures and equipment
- Maintain balance of lower and upper extremities
- Maintain vision, hearing and speaking abilities
- Twist neck
- Bend & twist back (standing & sitting)
- Utilize upper extremities for forceful gripping, repetitive motion, & overhead activity
- Lift/Push/Pull 50lbs
Working Conditions
- Overtime, nights, weekends or travel may be required
- Must have reliable transportation to and from jobsite
- Work is often strenuous, requiring standing, squatting, stretching and climbing for long periods of time
- May require moving, lifting and carrying tools and materials in excess of 50 pounds
- May require the use of sharp tools, hydraulic tools, high torque power tools and a variety of hand tools
- May work in dusty, dirty, hot, cold, or wet conditions, or in confined areas, ditches, or other uncomfortable spaces, or in high places, on lifts, ladders and scaffolds
- This may include exposure to trip and slip hazards, multiple level areas with potential falling objects exposure/fall exposure, and exposure to electrical shock and or arc flash hazard
