Position Overview

Sentara Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and passionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our growing team. This fully remote position allows you to engage with clients in a flexible environment, offering high-quality therapy services aimed at helping individuals, couples, and families navigate their challenges. As an LMFT with Sentara, you will be instrumental in providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth assessments of clients’ mental and emotional well-being, identifying key issues and goals that will inform treatment planning.
  • Design and implement individualized treatment plans that utilize evidence-based practices, regularly reviewing and adjusting these plans according to client progress.
  • Facilitate individual and couples therapy sessions, providing a safe space for clients to express their concerns and work through relationship dynamics.
  • Document all client interactions meticulously, maintaining accurate records consistent with ethical standards and legal guidelines.
  • Stay updated on new research and techniques in therapy, integrating innovative methods into practice to enhance client outcomes.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary, offering support and solutions for clients in acute distress or emergency situations.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and other health professionals, to ensure comprehensive care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our client base spans a wide range of ages and backgrounds, including children, adolescents, adults, and couples. As an LMFT at Sentara, you will address a variety of mental health concerns, from anxiety and depression to relationship issues and family dynamics. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the mental health and well-being of diverse individuals, helping them navigate life's challenges and improve their overall quality of life.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or a closely related field is required.
  • An active LMFT license issued by the State Board is essential for this role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to document assessments, treatment plans, and client progress in electronic health record systems.
  • Experience in individual and/or couples therapy, as well as working with diverse client populations.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience providing therapy in a remote environment, with proficiency in using digital tools for client engagement.
  • Experience in crisis intervention techniques and strategies tailored to diverse client needs.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations to contribute to ongoing professional development and networking.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from USD 90,000 to 105,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Sentara Counseling Services offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
