Overview

Calling all college students! Planning to intern during the summer of 2027? Kick-off your career at Selective Insurance by joining our award-winning Ignite internship program!

This is an 11-week, full-time experience that offers a sneak peek how I.T. intersects with insurance. Level up your skills and knowledge by diving into your department of choice. Throughout the program, you'll get a feel for the corporate environment with on-the-job assignments, team projects, exposure to senior leadership & executives, and even a community volunteer day. All of this and more will help you build meaningful relationships throughout the organization.

The Information Technology department is seeking motivated, self-directed individuals to intern on essential teams. Information technology is crucial in insurance companies for optimizing operations, enhancing customer service, and managing data securely, making it an exciting field for computer science students who want to apply their skills in a dynamic and impactful industry. As a summer intern, you will work directly with experienced professionals to gain hands-on, relevant experience. Please note, this is a hybrid position, therefore, applicants must be within commuting distance of our Short Hills, NJ location.


Responsibilities
  • Support the modernization of applications, processes, and infrastructure through cloud-based technologies and solutions
  • Assist with migrating and promoting on-premises applications and code to cloud environments
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools, including GitHub Copilot, to improve development efficiency, code quality, and team productivity
  • Evaluate legacy systems and applications to identify opportunities for modernization and process improvement
  • Research, analyze, and recommend technology solutions that align with business and IT objective

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Must be a current college student majoring in Computer Science or a related field to qualify (rising juniors and seniors, preferred).
  • Be someone who takes ownership over work, has the ability to self-motivate and executes on delegated tasks.
  • Demonstrates passion in Data, Analytics, and AI
  • Demonstrates an interest in learning about the insurance industry.
  • College credit can be earned depending on your institution's requirements.


Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma required. Ideal internship candidates will be full-time undergraduate college Juniors or Seniors, with the ability to perform at a professional level.

Pay Range
USD $25.00 - USD $28.00 /Hr.
