Job description

Summary: The Director of Accounting oversees accounting functions for assigned operating properties and non-operating properties. The director will also provide direct financial analysis support for the development and facilities department and oversee the office management functions for the corporate office.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    1.Handles accounts payable for assigned properties - including entering invoices, reconciling vendor statements, managing accounts payable reports, responding to vendor inquiries, and correct vendor account discrepancies
    2.Processes and reconciles credit card statements
    3.Reconcile all bank accounts for assigned properties
    4.Prepare and review financial statements for assigned properties
    5.Manage payroll for assigned properties
    6.Perform monthly expense variance analysis with general managers
    7.Enter journal entries and credits for assigned properties
    8.Make bank deposits off site
    9.Acts as office administrator by performing duties such as handling supply ordering, answering phones, and other office management tasks
    10.Performs board meeting management by organizing monthly meetings, distributing materials, and taking notes
    11.Aids with monthly, quarterly, or annual reporting requirements
    12.Track annual capital expenditures and large renovation projects
    13.Assist the Director of Facilities with the development of PCA’s and annual PCA addendums

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate high proficiency with Excel (macros, formulas, charts/graphs), have experience with accounting software, as well as experience with property management systems (e.g. Roommaster, Cloudbeds, Oracle, etc.).

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or a related field.
  • Hospitality accounting experience preferred
  • Five or more years of experience in accounting, payroll and/or auditing related roles.
  • Experience with accounting systems (e.g. Sage Intacct is preferred, M3, NetSuite, etc.)
