Job Description:

Position Summary

Location: Augusta, GA

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic thought partner and consultant to hospital leadership and department directors, aligning HR strategy with the hospital's clinical and operational goals. This role partners closely with nursing, clinical, and administrative leadership to drive talent management, workforce planning, employee relations, and organizational development initiatives that support high-quality patient care and a safe, compliant work environment. The HRBP acts as a change agent, translating operational needs and data into effective HR solutions within a state government/public healthcare setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic partner to leaders, providing guidance on workforce planning, and talent strategy.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to leadership (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues; conduct thorough objective investigations in accordance with state and hospital policy.
  • Work closely with leadership and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Partner with Learning & Development/Training on mandatory competencies, certifications, and role-specific training compliance (e.g., CPR, CPI, direct care certifications).
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on workforce planning and recruitment strategy for assigned business units.
  • Serve as liaison between hospital leadership and central HR/state agency functions (e.g., State Office HR, Legal).
  • Analyze workforce data (turnover, engagement, performance) to identify trends and recommend proactive solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and influence leaders across clinical and administrative departments.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee relations, performance management, organizational development, and applicable employment laws.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR metrics and translate data into actionable strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and influencing skills
  • Confidence partnering with leaders at various levels,even when conversations are challenging

Preferred Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field
  • Master's degree (MBA, MHRM, or similar)
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or equivalent)

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and eight (8) years of professional level human resource experience that provided a hands-on working knowledge across multiple human resource functions.--Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
