Job description

Passarella & Associates, Inc. is searching for a career-seeking, entry-level ecologist for our Fort Myers, Florida office. The Applicant must possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor's degree in the natural sciences (preferably environmental science, ecology, soil science, wetland science, botany, wildlife biology, etc.) or a related field, and the Applicant must have a valid Driver's License with the ability to drive a company vehicle. Experience for this position is preferred, but it is not required.
Professional responsibilities for this position include, but not are not limited to, conducting the following tasks:
  • Vegetation/preserve monitoring
  • Habitat mapping
  • Wetland delineations
  • Listed/protected species surveys
  • Protected species relocation
  • Technical reporting writing

The Applicant must be comfortable working in outdoor environments (which includes the ability to walk long distances and perform field work under various conditions such as heat and humidity) and an office setting. Applicant should be hard working, punctual, eager to learn, dependable, have a strong GPA and writing skills, and be willing to work in a collaborative team setting.
The following qualifications are preferred, but not necessary, for this position:
  • Experience in native and invasive plant species identification
  • Familiarity with native habitats/ecosystems of Florida
  • Knowledge of current state and federal listed species
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel)
  • Basic GPS data collection skills
