Job description

Description
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team working on ocean and climate variability and predictability at NYU Courant Institute School of Mathematics, Computing, and Data Science. Working primarily with Prof. Laure Zanna, the successful candidate will explore what drives extreme ocean surface temperatures and build tools to analyze and predict them. In particular, we expect the candidate to explore the onset and termination of extreme ocean temperature conditions using theory, numerical, and AI models; no experience in all areas is necessary, but we expect candidates to engage with different methods.
The postdoc will be expected to lead independent research directions while collaborating with a team of domain scientists, experts in ocean and climate physics and modeling, and computational/AI experts, as part of a collaboration between the international M2LInES collaboration.
The position, available immediately, is a full-time appointment, initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, subject to satisfactory performance and available funding.
In compliance with NYU's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $62,500 - $94,000. • Demonstrated skill in, or strong interest in developing, computational methods for studying the ocean/climate system
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Experience with HPC is a plus
