The OpportunityBuild the Future with Us
Join WSP as an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer in our Ground Engineering and Materials team based in Whitehorse, YT. This role blends handson fieldwork with officebased analysis and design, supporting a diverse portfolio of geotechnical projects across the Yukon and northern British Columbia. You'll collaborate with technical experts, contribute to major northern infrastructure initiatives, and play a key role in advancing our regional project delivery.

Why Choose Whitehorse?
Experience the North at its best.
Whitehorse offers a unique blend of adventure, community, and opportunity, set against the backdrop of Yukon's spectacular landscapes. With easy access to mountains, rivers, and vast wilderness, outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, mountain biking, fishing, and paddling are part of everyday life.
  • Strong sense of community and northern pride
  • Unmatched access to remote and meaningful project work
  • Dynamic, growing hub for northern infrastructure and resource development
  • Home to Yukon University, Canada's first university in the North, supporting research, innovation, and education tailored to northern communities
  • Gateway to Yukon and northern Canada
Whitehorse combines a high quality of life with the opportunity to work on impactful projects that truly shape northern communities. With fewer barriers and greater responsibility, professionals often gain broader, more handson experience earlier in their careers.
WSP further supports northern careers through our Northern Living Allowance, making Whitehorse a rewarding and distinctive place to live, work, and grow.

Your Impact
  • Lead and participate in field programs including borehole drilling, test pitting, in situ testing, instrumentation installation, and construction monitoring.
  • Analyze geotechnical and geological data to develop recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, pavements, and slope stability.
  • Prepare clear, defensible technical reports such as investigations, design briefs, and construction documentation.
  • Provide geotechnical input to multidisciplinary teams and support innovative, datadriven solutions.
  • Mentor junior staff in field methods, analysis techniques, and safety practices.
  • Build strong client relationships through responsive, reliable engineering advice.
  • Support quality assurance processes, project coordination, and continuous improvement in geotechnical practice.

The Skills That Set You Apart
    • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus.

    • Registration as an EIT in Canada, with relevant Canadian consulting experience.

    • Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Geotechnical or Geological Engineer-in-training.

    • Valid Canadian driver's license.
