Job Opportunity
Position: Radiation Oncology Therapist
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Radiation Oncology Therapist to join our team for a 13-week contract. This position requires a commitment to providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Shift Details
  • Days: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 4x10 Hour Shifts (06:00 AM - 07:30 PM)
  • Weekly Hours: 40 hours
  • Start Date: ASAP
Qualifications
  • License: ARRT National Radiology Certification
  • State Licensure: Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI)
  • Basic Life Support Certification required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Radiation Therapy
  • Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge systems, and Aria software preferred
Education
Successful completion of a Radiation Therapy program is required.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of basic operations of Linear Accelerators (Varian Truebeam, Trilogy, Acuity, and GE Lightspeed CT)
  • Knowledge of SBRT, SRS, and Breathhold Visual Management techniques
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment treating 70-95 patients per day on three treatment machines
Key Responsibilities
  • Simulate and administer radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and directed by the Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist
  • Interpret the prescription and treatment plan for accurate patient care
  • Maintain patient identification processes according to department protocols
  • Ensure audio and visual surveillance of patients during treatment
  • Accurately position patients for treatment based on established protocols
  • Image patients as directed and annotate portal images when necessary
  • Monitor patients for side effects or changes in behavior and report findings to the appropriate medical professionals
  • Document treatment positions and patient information using a digital camera
  • Safely assist in transferring patients from stretchers or wheelchairs
  • Perform RadCalc calculations for emergency treatments and construct quality immobilization devices for reproducible patient positioning
  • Participate in daily chart rounds to coordinate comprehensive patient care
  • Maintain cleanliness in treatment and block rooms, ensuring compliance with safety protocols
  • Facilitate simulation sessions with clinics to support continuity of patient care
