Job description

Saavi Services for the Blind is seeking a skilled and mission-driven Student Services Manager to support student success through service coordination, program oversight, and direct instruction. This role ensures that each student’s experience reflects SAAVI’s Structured Discovery philosophy and commitment to high expectations.

Through a strong partnership with the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), Saavi provides nationally recognized training grounded in a positive philosophy of blindness.

Position Overview

Based in Phoenix, the Student Services Manager provides individualized program advising, coordinates student services, and supports instructional staff. This position also includes direct teaching responsibilities as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and support student progress through advising sessions and staffings
  • Communicate student-related concerns with the Center Director
  • Serve as liaison with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) counselors
  • Write and review reports, equipment requests, and documentation
  • Provide instruction in assigned areas as needed
  • Coordinate communication across rehabilitation programs
  • Model strong nonvisual techniques and problem-solving skills
  • Support integration of braille, technology, cane travel, and home management across settings
  • Represent SAAVI in professional development and agency events
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Orientation & Mobility, Rehabilitation Teaching, Social Work, or related field or Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Services, Social Work, Assistive Technology, Education, or other blindness-related field
  • Minimum five years’ supervisory or program coordination experience in a rehabilitation, education, or human services setting preferred
  • Certification (NBPCB or ACVREP) strongly preferred or ability to obtain within one year
  • Structured Discovery training background preferred
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Experience working in human services, disability services, social work, or case management environments strongly valued
Conditions of Employment
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Completion of SAAVI blindness immersion training
  • Ability to pass RSA background check and obtain DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License required if driving for SAAVI
Compensation & Professional Development

The salary range for this position is $55,000–$65,000 annually, with placement within that range based on relevant experience and qualifications.
