Permitting & Environmental Manager

Location: Near Salt Lake City / Tooele, Utah

About the Opportunity

An emerging U.S.-based gold developer is seeking an Environmental Manager (Permitting Manager) to play a key leadership role in advancing a large-scale open-pit heap leach project in Utah. This is a high-impact, development-stage opportunity where you will help shape environmental strategy, lead permitting efforts, and influence the successful transition from exploration through construction readiness.

This role offers the chance to work on a well-positioned project with strong infrastructure and momentum, while collaborating closely with technical, operational, and executive teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead environmental and permitting strategy aligned with project development milestones
  • Manage permitting processes, including regulatory engagement and consultant coordination
  • Oversee environmental compliance across drilling, exploration, and site development activities
  • Support and guide environmental baseline studies (wildlife, water, air quality, soils, etc.)
  • Act as the on-site environmental lead, partnering with field teams, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Identify risks, drive compliance, and implement practical solutions in a dynamic environment
  • Provide leadership in environmental stewardship, incident response, and continuous improvement
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and ensure strong regulatory alignment

Ideal Background
  • 10+ years of environmental and permitting experience, including leadership responsibility
  • Experience supporting major permitting efforts in mining or large-scale industrial projects
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, compliance, and field operations
  • Proven ability to work in development-stage projects with shifting priorities
  • Experience with the BLM and DOGM are necessary. NEEPA experience would be a plus.

Key Strengths
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence across technical and operational teams
  • Hands-on leader who is comfortable in both field and strategic environments
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with a strong compliance mindset
  • Adaptive problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced, evolving projects

Why This Role
  • Opportunity to lead environmental and permitting efforts on a significant U.S. gold development project
  • High visibility role with direct impact on project advancement and timelines
  • Collaborative team environment with exposure to senior leadership
  • Strong platform for career growth as the project moves toward construction and operations

Additional Information
  • Field-based role with regular site presence required
  • Strong safety culture and commitment to environmental responsibility are critical
