Job description
STM Associates has been retained by a publicly traded mining company to look for a Director of Health & Safety who will lead enterprise-wide health and safety strategy across multiple operating sites in North America.
About the role:
- Set, lead, and continuously improve the corporate health and safety strategy.
- Provide governance, expert advisory support, and practical operational guidance across multiple sites.
- Partner with executive, corporate, and site leadership teams to strengthen risk management and safety culture.
- Support underground mining safety programs, critical risk management, emergency preparedness, contractor safety, audits, and incident investigation processes.
- Travel regularly to mine sites and engage directly with operational teams, including time spent underground.
Ideal background:
- 12–15 years of progressive health and safety experience in mining.
- Senior leadership, corporate oversight, or multi-site health and safety experience.
- Strong underground mining and critical risk management expertise.
- Experience developing and improving safety management systems for underground mining and processing operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Mining Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional designation such as CRSP, CSP, CIH, or equivalent is preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates preferred.
