What You’ll Do

The Regional Manager is responsible for the operational execution, financial performance, and leadership effectiveness of assigned Benihana restaurants. Success in this role is measured by the ability to grow revenue, protect profitability, elevate operating standards, and build high-performing management teams that consistently deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Serving as the senior operational leader for the region, the Regional Manager ensures that each restaurant operates with discipline, urgency, and full alignment with Benihana’s standards and company objectives. This leader serves as the critical connection between restaurant operations and corporate leadership, translating strategy into consistent field-level execution.

Performance ownership is centered on four essential pillars:

  • Revenue growth and sales optimization
  • Cost control and profitability
  • Guest experience and operational excellence
  • Culture, talent development, and leadership accountability

The Regional Manager is expected to proactively identify performance gaps, operational risks, and leadership opportunities and implement corrective action with urgency and precision. This is a decisive, hands-on leadership position with direct accountability for regional results.

A key responsibility of this role is developing, coaching, and managing the performance of General Managers and their leadership teams. The Regional Manager must build capable operational leaders, reinforce accountability, and ensure that every restaurant demonstrates consistent execution, financial discipline, and cultural alignment.

While reporting, analysis, and business reviews require structured administrative time, this is fundamentally a field-based leadership role. Most of the Regional Manager’s time will be spent in restaurants—observing service, validating standards, coaching leaders, implementing improvements, and directly influencing performance.

Frequent travel throughout the assigned region is required. Additional travel may be necessary to support new restaurant openings, stabilize operations, or address performance challenges in other markets. Flexibility, responsiveness, and a visible leadership presence are essential.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Inspire, develop, and empower General Managers and restaurant teams to deliver the Benihana experience with consistency and pride
  • Coach, mentor, and develop General Managers while building a strong pipeline of future leaders
  • Establish clear performance expectations and hold restaurant leadership accountable for results
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and operational excellence
  • Make team engagement, retention, recognition, and professional development consistent regional priorities
  • Address performance concerns directly, constructively, and promptly

Business and Financial Leadership

  • Drive sustainable sales growth through strong operational execution and guest-focused strategies
  • Partner with restaurant leaders to identify opportunities, resolve challenges, and improve performance
  • Protect profitability through disciplined labor management, cost control, forecasting, and sound business decisions
  • Monitor key performance indicators and translate financial and operational data into meaningful action
  • Lead restaurant business reviews and ensure follow-through on established priorities
  • Develop and execute performance-improvement plans for restaurants that are not meeting expectations

Operational and Guest Experience Excellence

  • Protect the integrity of the Benihana brand by ensuring every restaurant consistently delivers exceptional food, service, hospitality, and atmosphere
  • Maintain a visible, hands-on presence in restaurants, particularly during high-volume and key service periods
  • Evaluate restaurant execution and implement improvements that strengthen guest satisfaction and financial performance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, operating procedures, food-safety requirements, and applicable regulations
  • Support new restaurant openings, leadership transitions, and other critical business initiatives
  • Serve as a cultural and operational role model throughout the region

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated success leading multiple high-volume, full-service restaurants
  • Strong record of delivering positive financial, operational, and guest-experience results
  • Proven ability to develop General Managers and build high-performing leadership teams
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with P&L management, labor, sales forecasting, and cost controls
  • Ability to analyze performance metrics, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
  • Confident and decisive leadership style with the ability to set expectations and reinforce accountability
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy, and evolving restaurant environment
  • Proficiency with restaurant systems, reporting tools, and operational technology
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently and maintain a strong field presence
  • Genuine passion for hospitality, developing people, and delivering memorable guest experiences
