Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated professional to evaluate and provide treatment for patients facing physical, emotional, cognitive, and psychosocial challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients' capabilities to safely and effectively manage independent living skills.
- Develop tailored care plans that specify the type and frequency of treatments required.
- Implement treatment strategies using suitable modalities and document patient progress.
- Continuously monitor and adjust care plans as necessary, seeking consultation when needed.
- Educate patients and their families or caregivers about identified deficits.
- Assist with patient discharge from therapy services, providing guidance on adaptive equipment and support programs.
- Supervise care provided by designated individuals in accordance with established regulations and standards.
- Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field, as required for licensure in the state of practice.
- Experience: No prior experience is necessary.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
- Engage in oral communication, requiring frequent use of hearing and speech.
- Distinguish body sounds and respond to alarms or malfunctioning equipment through hearing.
- Utilize vision for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
- Regularly walk, reach, grip, and perform data entry tasks.
- Occasionally bend, stoop, climb, kneel, sit, squat, twist, and perform repetitive movements with legs and arms.
- Occasionally lift or move patients and objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional driving may be required.
- Rarely crawl.
Licensure and Certifications
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification is required within 90 days of employment. Additional resuscitation certifications may be necessary based on departmental needs.
- Licensure as an Occupational Therapist is required in the respective state of practice (Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin).
Work Schedule
This position is classified as PRN (as needed) with day shifts available.
