Job description

Title: Welder

Location: South Windsor, Connecticut

Shift: 1st (6am to 2:30pm, M-F)

Salary: $30-34/hr

Welder Responsibilities:

  • Pipe welding and fitting, GTAW (Tig) and GMAW (Mig)
  • Materials including steels, stainless steels, and aluminum
  • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on job orders
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
  • Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

About You:

  • Drawing reading capability including dimensional and welding symbols
  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16”
  • Familiarity with band saws, cutoff wheels, grinders, and weld prep tooling.
  • Own standard hand tools.
  • 2-3 years work experience or equivalent school experience in welding profession.
  • Good understanding of inspection methods and techniques
  • Must be able to read/interpret blue prints and have a good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Fork lift operating experience.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Some heavy lifting required.
