We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Boat Captain to oversee the safe operation of our vessels. The ideal candidate will be a people person that can entertain and make charter boat guests happy and show them a fun time. They also need to possess strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of maritime regulations, and the ability to manage boat equipment effectively. The Boat Captain will be responsible for ensuring the safety of passengers and crew while navigating various waterways. Must have boating certificate with TWRA if required. USCG certification is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Operate and navigate the vessel safely in compliance with all maritime laws and regulations.
- ALL Captains must arrive a minimum of 1 hour to the marina prior to all trips to do inspections and make sure boat is clean and inside of coolers are clean. ALL captains must fully clean boats AFTER charters are completed for the day and refuel.
- Pay starts at $125 per charter plus tips which average $100 a charter. Charter pay includes arriving 1 hour early and staying up to 1 hour late to clean and refuel.
- Contact all guests BEFORE trips to make sure they have all the information needed and know where to go. Make sure all waiver forms are signed and completed before boarding the boats.
- Conduct pre-departure inspections of the vessel, including safety equipment checks and mechanical assessments.
- Rig and maintain equipment as necessary to ensure optimal performance during operations.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, providing instructions and updates as needed.
- Respond to emergencies swiftly and effectively, implementing safety protocols to protect all on board.
- Maintain accurate logs of voyages, including weather conditions, fuel consumption, and any incidents that occur during travel.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Boat Captain or in a similar role within the maritime industry.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to boat operation and maintenance.
- Ability to manage a team effectively, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Familiarity with navigation systems, maritime laws, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
