Job description

Company Description

Rogue Hire empowers healthcare organizations to identify, engage, and recruit professionals committed to serving their communities. The company offers the industry’s first Healthcare Recruitment Operating System, using Decision Intelligence analytics, benchmarks, and advanced methodologies to improve talent acquisition performance. Although we are remote, we have hubs in Pittsburgh, PA, Ann Arbor, MI, and Philadelphia, PA, so remote candidates must be near those areas for company gatherings.

Role Description

We're looking for an early career QA Engineer to help ensure the quality, reliability, and stability of the Rogue Hire platform as we ship new features at an accelerating pace. This role is ideal for a technically minded QA engineer early in their career who wants to own the manual quality bar for our product today and grow into deeper automation and AI-assisted testing work overtime. In your first months, you'll focus primarily on hands-on feature testing, bug reproduction, and release validation across our Web/.NET/Azure platform. As you ramp, you'll take on an automation track — expanding our Playwright smoke coverage and gradually taking ownership of our internal AI-powered Quality Agent that runs tests during our CI/CD pipeline.

You'll also have full access to our Claude AI toolset (Claude Code and related tooling) to help you read and debug our codebase, understand unfamiliar areas of the product, and accelerate your ramp into test automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Feature Testing (primary focus): Manually test new features across our Web-based apps, APIs, and Data processes before they ship, catching regressions and usability issues early.
  • Bug Reproduction & Reporting: Reproduce, isolate, and document bugs with clear repro steps in Azure DevOps; partner with engineers to verify fixes.
  • Test Planning: Contribute to test plans, acceptance criteria, and regression checklists for new features, working closely with engineering and product.
  • Release Validation: Own smoke testing across our dev, test, and prod environments as part of the release process.
  • Data Pipeline Validation: Assist in finding issues in our data pipelines and create automated testing and alerting processes.
  • Automation Growth Track: As you gain product depth, expand our automated smoke and regression coverage using Playwright, leveraging our Claude/GPT AI tooling to help write and debug tests. Over time, take on operation and enhancement of our AI-powered Quality Agent — a service that runs tests and triages failures with Azure OpenAI during pipeline builds and deploys.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product, and design to align quality standards and release readiness.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in QA, software testing, or a technical role with a strong testing component.
  • Strong understanding of manual QA fundamentals: writing test cases, exploratory testing, regression coverage, and clear bug reporting.
  • Comfortable reading code to understand what a feature is doing — you don't need to be a developer, but you should be able to trace through C#/JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with SQL and data pipelines for validating data behind test scenarios.
  • Excellent written communication — clear bug reports and test documentation are non-negotiable.
  • Curious, self-directed, and eager to grow into automation and tooling work overtime.
  • Interest in — and willingness to actively use — AI-assisted development tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) as part of your daily workflow.
  • Must be in the Pittsburgh, Ann Arbor, or Philadelphia area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Hands-on experience with any automated testing framework (Playwright, Selenium, xUnit, NUnit, Jest, PyTest, etc.).
  • Exposure to the .NET/C# ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps pipelines and test result reporting.
  • Exposure to Azure services (App Service, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Application Insights).
  • Experience using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, etc.) in a professional setting.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $90,000 annually
  • Annual Bonus: Eligible for a performance-based bonus of up to 10% of base salary
  • 401(k): Company match up to 4%
  • Health Benefits: Medical and other health benefits provided
  • Work Environment: Remote, with candidates required to live within approximately 60-minute drive of one of our hubs in Pittsburgh, PA; Ann Arbor, MI; or Philadelphia, PA
