You will play a pivotal role in providing thorough assessments, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and support to individuals, couples, and families dealing with complex mental health challenges and the emotional impacts of terminal illness.

About the Organization

Riverbend Psychotherapy Services is a forward-thinking mental health provider based in New York City, focused on delivering specialized care tailored to the unique needs of our client population. Our organization is committed to fostering a welcoming environment where all team members can excel. We emphasize collaboration, innovation, and professional growth, ensuring our staff has the resources and support needed to make a real difference in the lives of our clients.

Work Environment

This role is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility in your work schedule. You will connect with clients via telehealth platforms and engage with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and chaplains, ensuring a holistic approach to patient care. Our hospice center setting requires sensitivity and a deep understanding of the emotional and psychological needs of seriously ill patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ mental and emotional health, focusing on their strengths and challenges.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that integrate therapeutic techniques suitable for individual, couples, or family therapy.
  • Facilitate virtual therapy sessions aimed at enhancing clients’ coping strategies, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life.
  • Collaborate closely with a diverse healthcare team to deliver coordinated and comprehensive care that addresses both physical and mental health needs.
  • Maintain meticulous client records and clinical documentation to ensure continuity of care and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in regular professional development sessions, case consultations, and supervision to enhance clinical skills and therapeutic approaches.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and legal requirements governing social work practice at all times.
Patient Population / Client Focus

As a clinical social worker at Riverbend, you will focus on a patient population that includes individuals facing terminal illnesses, their families, and caregivers. These clients often experience a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, and end-of-life issues. Your role will involve providing empathetic support and evidence-based interventions to help clients navigate complex emotional landscapes and foster resilience during difficult times.

Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in social work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New York.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in clinical social work, preferably within a mental health or hospice care setting.
  • Strong foundation in mental health diagnosis, intervention strategies, and therapeutic modalities.
  • Exceptional communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with telehealth platforms and providing virtual therapy.
  • Familiarity with hospice care principles and cultural competence in addressing end-of-life care.
  • Training in grief counseling and trauma-informed care approaches.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Riverbend Psychotherapy Services offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • 401k retirement plan with employer matching contributions.
  • Generous vacation and sick leave policies to support work-life balance.
