Retail Pharmacist (Travel Pharmacist)

Job Summary:

As a Retail Pharmacist at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Shermans Dale, PA, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality pharmaceutical care to customers. You will be responsible for dispensing prescriptions, offering expert medication advice, and ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations. As a Travel Pharmacist, you will rotate through various Rite Aid locations, providing staffing support as needed and ensuring optimal pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Dispensing Medications: Accurately fill prescriptions based on physician orders, ensuring safety and quality.

  • Medication Counseling: Provide medication therapy management (MTM) to customers, offering advice on how to use prescriptions and over-the-counter medications effectively.

  • Customer Service: Respond to customer inquiries, offering guidance on proper medication use, side effects, and drug interactions.

  • Health Screenings and Immunizations: Administer immunizations as per state and local regulations. Conduct basic health screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol.

  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, place orders, and ensure medications are stored and handled appropriately to ensure quality and compliance.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure pharmacy practices comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including safety, privacy (HIPAA), and documentation standards.

  • Travel Requirements: As a Travel Pharmacist, you will be required to rotate through various Rite Aid pharmacy locations, filling temporary staffing needs, and supporting the local pharmacy team in each location.

  • Collaborate with Healthcare Providers: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and optimize patient care.

  • Training and Mentorship: Assist in training pharmacy staff and provide leadership during staffing rotations.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.

  • Licensure: Valid pharmacist license in the state of California (or the ability to obtain one prior to starting employment).

  • Experience: Previous experience as a retail pharmacist preferred. Experience in a travel pharmacy role is a plus..
