Key Responsibilities

As an Orthopedic Physical Therapist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Directing and implementing individualized physical therapy treatment plans to prevent disability, alleviate pain, and restore muscle function.
  • Supervising and guiding Physical Therapy Assistants to ensure effective implementation of treatment protocols and client care.
  • Conducting thorough evaluations of clients' functional levels using diagnostic tests and assessments to inform treatment decisions.
  • Assessing clients' home environments to recommend modifications that enhance independence and rehabilitation potential.
  • Providing prescribed physical therapy treatments in compliance with physician directives, which may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and other modalities.
  • Administering traction, massage, and treatments involving physical agents while instructing clients in various rehabilitative activities.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary care planning and case conferences to align treatment goals with overall client health outcomes.
  • Documenting clinical progress, including initial evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and care plans accurately and promptly.
  • Training clients and their families on the usage and care of therapy equipment and overall rehabilitative programs.
  • Maintaining a proactive approach to ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work primarily with individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries and injuries, including joint replacements, fractures, and sports injuries. Our clientele often has unique needs that require tailored therapeutic approaches, emphasizing tailored exercises, pain management techniques, and gradual return-to-function strategies.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid physical therapy licensure in the state of Virginia.
  • Certification in CPR and a valid driver’s license with automobile insurance.
  • Demonstrated passion for clinical excellence and an unwavering commitment to enhancing patient care experiences.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively engage with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • A positive and collaborative mindset, promoting teamwork in delivering comprehensive care.
Preferred Experience

While a minimum of one year of experience as a physical therapist in an acute care or home care setting is preferred, candidates with a strong foundation in orthopedic rehabilitation and a drive to excel in their practice will also be considered. Experience guiding or instructing staff is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from $100,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
