Job description

The Medical Assistant provides essential clinical and administrative support to the physicians

documenting patient accurately patient information and clinical notes, preparing patients for the

examination and assisting the physician in clinical procedures This role requires a combination of

technical proficiency, patient-centered care, and strong organizational skills to ensure the highest quality

of service.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Take and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight, and height).
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during clinical procedures.
  • Administer injections, vaccinations, and medications as directed by the physician.
  • Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for analysis.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment in compliance with infection control
  • protocols.
  • Document patient information and clinical notes accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • system.

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule patient appointments and manage daily patient flow.
  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Process prior authorizations and referrals as directed.
  • Answer phone calls, manage correspondence, and coordinate with other healthcare facilities.
  • Manage medical supply inventory and submit restocking requests as needed.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.


Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certification

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) designation strongly
  • preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Bilingual: Fluent in English and Spanish required.


Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience in a medical office or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks,
  • Epic, Athenahealth).
  • Experience in specialty practices (primary care, internal medicine, family medicine) is a plus.
  • Core Competencies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first attitude.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a high-volume clinical environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in clinical documentation.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and medical software platforms.


Working Conditions

• Full-time position; Monday through Friday.

• Work is performed in a clinical outpatient setting.

• May require standing for extended periods.

• Exposure to clinical environments; adherence to infection control and safety protocols is

mandatory.
