Job description

Position Summary:

Renegade Process Controls is seeking a skilled Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Technician to support operations at gas processing facilities in the Odessa, TX area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience performing maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation devices, as well as a strong understanding of electrical systems and national electrical codes. This role requires close collaboration with company engineers to ensure optimal plant performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, calibration, installation, and troubleshooting on a wide range of instrumentation and control systems used in gas processing facilities.

  • Conduct electrical work in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards, including wiring, conduit installation, and panel work.

  • Support commissioning and startup activities of new or upgraded equipment and systems.

  • Work with engineers and other technicians to identify and resolve performance or reliability issues.

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including documentation of inspections, repairs, and parts used.

  • Adhere to safety procedures and company policies at all times.

  • Travel to remote job sites as needed in a company vehicle (valid driver’s license required).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-4 year of experience in an instrumentation and electrical technician role, preferably in the oil & gas or energy sector.

  • Solid understanding of process instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level) and control systems.

  • Familiarity with PLCs, transmitters, control valves, and loop tuning.

  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems and national electrical codes (NEC).

  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.

  • Proficient with hand tools, multimeters, and calibration equipment.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or certifications in instrumentation or electrical fields is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in gas plants or with midstream oil & gas infrastructure.

  • NCCER certification or equivalent technical training.

  • Knowledge of safety practices and OSHA regulations.
