Job description

Position Summary

The Hyperbaric Technician plays a critical role in delivering safe, effective, and compliant hyperbaric oxygen therapy as part of RegenQuest’s wound care programs. This position ensures high-quality patient care, proper chamber operation, and strict adherence to regulatory and clinical standards while supporting RegenQuest’s mission of helping practices grow and improve patient outcomes across the nation.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Operations

  • Operate monoplace and multiplace hyperbaric chambers in accordance with physician orders, safety protocols, and RegenQuest standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Prepare patients for HBOT treatments, including screening, positioning, education, and documentation of vitals.
  • Monitor and document patient status and responses throughout hyperbaric sessions for clinical accuracy and safety.
  • Identify, respond to, and escalate clinical concerns or emergencies in collaboration with the supervising clinician or medical director.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain strict compliance with NFPA 99, OSHA, UHMS (Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society) guidelines, and practice-specific policies.
  • Conduct pre- and post-treatment chamber safety checks — including pressure integrity, oxygen sensors, fire safety, and emergency systems.
  • Ensure infection control practices and sterile field integrity in treatment areas.
  • Participate in internal audits, quality improvement activities, and safety drills.

Equipment & Maintenance

  • Perform routine equipment inspections, calibration checks, and preventive maintenance per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Coordinate with biomedical services or vendors for advanced repairs or re-qualifications.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, emergency equipment, and documentation logs.

Documentation & Records

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, including treatment logs, vitals, patient charts, and regulatory checklists.
  • Assist in coding and billing support by accurately capturing treatment data required for claims and reimbursement processes.

Patient & Practice Support

  • Educate patients and caregivers on HBOT expectations, safety restrictions, and post-treatment guidelines.
  • Support RegenQuest partner clinics by contributing to patient satisfaction and retention through professional, compassionate care.
  • Collaborate with practice teams to assist onboarding and support new wound care/HBOT program implementations.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience

  • Prior experience in a clinical setting — wound care, hospital, outpatient therapy, or similar environment.
  • Experience with hyperbaric chamber operations and clinical monitoring is highly desirable.

Certifications/Requirements

Current license or certification as applicable in state of practice in one of the following areas:

  • Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT)
  • Certified Hyperbaric Specialist (CHS)
  • Certified Hyperbaric Wound Specialist (CHWS)
  • Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRT)
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
  • Military Corpsman or Medical Services Specialist

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of hyperbaric oxygen therapy principles and patient safety standards.
  • Excellent observational, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with patients, clinicians, and operational teams.

Work Environment

  • Clinical treatment rooms equipped with hyperbaric chambers.
  • Exposure to a healthcare setting with medical devices and oxygen-rich environments.
  • May require standing for extended periods and assisting patients with mobility.
