Alcohol and Drug Counselor Supervisor

Purpose Statement:

Recovery in Motion is a dedicated team of motivated individuals who work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide effective substance use disorder treatment services.

Key Result Areas: Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide individual counseling, group counseling, case management, crisis intervention that addresses the goals established on the treatment plan
• Document services provided in appropriate client files according to Recovery in Motion’s policies and procedures and standards established by governing bodies
• Develop comprehensive treatment plans that meet the individual needs of the client. Treatment plans will be completed in accordance with Recovery in Motion’s policies and procedures and standards established by governing bodies
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and supervision meetings
• Conduct weekly individual supervision meetings with clinicians and interns
• Responsible fordisciplinary action in response toemployee problems,performance or bbehavior; including but not limited to , verbal, written and performance improvement plan
• Coordinate care with outside providers such as court, Department of Corrections, and other referral sources and provide appropriate information as requested
• Discharge dutiesin accordance withcontracts, licensure standards, and Recovery in Motion’s policies and procedures
• Exhibits knowledge of core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disordersthrough continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment
• Maintain current knowledge of site and client activities
• Plan work tasks to coincide with programming requirements
• Set priorities in monitoring clients, making ho use rounds, documentation of pertinent information and completion of other assignments
• Available in afriendly respectful dignified manner, to clients for questions and other assistance
• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Highly dependable and can be counted on to work independently, having the ability towork with little direction
• Maintainan up-to-date knowledge of program philosophy andpolices and procedures, 245Grequirements, house operations, including client rights and confiden tiality
• Complete intake/admission procedures, ori entation of new clients and co-workers
• Encourage clients to achieve their goals by functioning as a positive role model
• Serve as a resource for clients through knowledge of services and opp orities in the community
• Accuratedocumentation of client information in the communications log and completion of other forms
• A clear understandingof the program mission and how his/her work integrates with and advances the goals of the program
• Respond to clientconflict resolution, grievances, and clinical disciplinary issues
• Complete other tasks as assignedby the supervisor
• Use sound decision making skills,exhibiting good judgment andre alistic un derstanding of issues
• All other duties, as assigned

Required Skills and Experience (Minimum Requirements):

• Must meet the qualification requirements for an alcohol and drug counselor, noted below under
• An alcohol and drug counselor must either be licensed or exempt from licensure under chapter 148F.
• An individual who is exempt from licensure under chapter 148F must meet one for the following additional requirements:
• completion of at least a baccalaureate degree with a major or concentration in social work, nursing, sociology, human services, or psychology, or licensure as a registered nurse; successful completion of a minimum of120 hours of classroom instruction in which each of the core functions listed in chapter 148F is covered; and successful completion of440 hours of supervised experience as an alcohol and drug counselor, either as a student or a staff member;
• completion of at least270 hours of drug counselor training in which each of the core functions listed in chapter 148F is covered, and successful completion of880 hours of supervised experience as an alcohol and drug counselor, either as a student or as a staff member;
• current certification as an alcohol and drug counselor or alcohol and drug counselor reciprocal, through the evaluation process established by the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse, Inc.;
• completion of a bachelor's degree including480 hours of alcohol and drug counseling education from an accredited school or educational program and880 hours of alcohol and drug counseling practicum; or
• employment in a program formerly licensed under Minnesota Rules, parts 9530.5000 to 9530.6400, and successful completion of6,000 hours of supervised work experience in a licensed program as an alcohol and drug counselor prior to January 1, 2005.
• Have three or more years of experience providing individual and group counseling to individuals with substance use disorder;
• Know and understand the implications ofchapter 245G,sections 245A.65, 626.557, and 626.5572, and chapter 260E.
• CPR certification or attain within 30-days
• Complete background study
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to use Microsoft Office programs and other computer skills

Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred):

• Master’s degree in a human service field
• Speci ally training such as DBT, CBT, MI, ect
