POSITION SUMMARY
The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor supports the administration of ReadyOne Industries' AbilityOne compliance program by conducting eligibility evaluations, coordinating workplace accommodations, and providing ongoing support to employees with disabilities. This role works in close partnership with HR, operations management, and external agencies to ensure regulatory compliance and to promote an inclusive, mission-driven work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct initial and annual individual eligibility evaluations of employees with disabilities in accordance with AbilityOne program regulations.
Order, review, and interpret employee medical assessments and work restriction documentation to determine disability status, program eligibility, and required accommodations.
Perform assessments with employees and supervisors to gather information necessary for AbilityOne evaluation and compliance processes.
Conduct interviews for applicants and employees participating in affirmative action and disability employment programs.
Identify required job accommodations and collaborate with managers and supervisors to ensure effective and timely implementation.
Provide disability awareness training and education to supervisors and department managers across the organization.
Assist employees, supervisors, and managers in resolving disability-related workplace conflicts and performance concerns.
Monitor employee progress, document outcomes, and deliver ongoing counseling support as needed.
Maintain productive relationships with supervisors and external vocational rehabilitation agencies to facilitate job placements and advocate for employee success.
Ensure all case files, eligibility records, and compliance documentation are current, accurate, and available for internal and external audits.
Support HR compliance initiatives, committee activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor reports directly to the HR Compliance and Analyst Manager. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but works cross-functionally with department supervisors, operations managers, and external rehabilitation agencies.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling, disability services, or a related human services field preferred.
Experience with AbilityOne program regulations or federal compliance programs is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Frequent movement throughout the facility including walking, standing, bending, and reaching.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primary work setting is an office environment within a manufacturing facility.
Regular interaction with production floor environments; appropriate safety protocols must be followed when entering those areas.
May require occasional travel to external agencies or partner organizations.
