TRIMLIGHT

Permanent Exterior Lighting | Salt Lake County, Utah

JOB DESCRIPTION

Installation Technician

Location: West Jordan, UT (Salt Lake County)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: General Manager

Department: Operations

ABOUT TRIMLIGHT SALT LAKE

Founded in 2010, Trimlight is the original inventor of permanent, programmable, color-changing LED lighting. With a patented channel system, the Trimlight Edge app, and a lifetime product warranty, we’ve grown to over 300 authorized dealer locations across the U.S. and Canada. Our mission is simple: light up the world — one home, one business, one dealer at a time.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Installer is the face of Trimlight Salt Lake in the field. You will be responsible for the professional installation of permanent, programmable LED lighting systems on residential and commercial properties throughout the Salt Lake County area. From running the channel and wire to configuring the Trimlight Edge app and walking customers through their new system, you are the final step in delivering the Trimlight experience. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship, communicates confidently with customers, works safely at heights, and is motivated by doing the job right every time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Installation

Install Trimlight permanent LED lighting systems on residential and commercial properties according to company standards, blueprints, and job-specific specifications.

Mount channel track, run wire, and secure all components cleanly and securely along rooflines, fascia, soffits, and other architectural features.

Connect and configure the Trimlight controller, power supply, and LED nodes to ensure proper operation and compliance with electrical safety standards.

Perform all work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, and lifts safely and in compliance with OSHA standards and company safety protocols.

Complete installations efficiently within the scheduled time window while maintaining the highest standard of workmanship and attention to detail.

Inspect all completed work before leaving a job site to ensure the system is fully functional, clean, and customer-ready.

App Setup & Customer Handoff

Download, configure, and personalize the Trimlight Edge app on the customer’s device, connecting it to the installed system and confirming all zones and programs are functioning correctly.

Walk customers through the app interface, demonstrating how to create and save lighting programs, adjust colors and schedules, and use holiday presets.

Answer customer questions about system operation, maintenance, and capabilities in a friendly, confident, and professional manner.

Ensure every customer leaves their handoff feeling fully comfortable and excited about their new Trimlight system.

Document any customer preferences, special program setups, or notes in the job record for future reference by the service team.

Job Site Professionalism

Represent Trimlight Salt Lake professionally at all times — arriving on time, in uniform, with a clean and organized vehicle and properly stocked tools and materials.

Communicate respectfully and clearly with homeowners, property managers, and on-site contacts throughout the installation process.

Protect customer property by using drop cloths, cleaning up all debris, and leaving the job site in better condition than found.

Notify the Install Manager promptly of any unexpected site conditions, structural concerns, or issues that may impact the installation or timeline.

Obtain customer sign-off on completed work and collect any required documentation or photos before departing the job site.

Safety & Compliance

Follow all Trimlight safety protocols and OSHA guidelines for working at heights, handling electrical components, and operating power tools and equipment.

Conduct a site safety assessment before beginning each job, identifying hazards such as overhead utilities, unstable surfaces, or adverse weather conditions.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately, including harnesses, hard hats, gloves, and eye protection as required by the task.

Report any workplace injuries, near-misses, or unsafe conditions to the Install Manager immediately and complete all required incident documentation.

Maintain current knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and any required licensing or certifications relevant to the role.

Vehicle & Equipment Care

Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked company vehicle at all times, completing a pre-trip inspection each morning before departing for job sites.

Inventory and restock installation materials and tools as needed, communicating low stock or missing items to the Install Manager in a timely manner.

Care for all company-issued tools, ladders, and equipment, reporting damage or wear before it becomes a safety issue.

Complete all vehicle maintenance logs, fuel reports, and mileage tracking as required by company policy.

Secure the vehicle and all equipment at the end of each workday in accordance with company procedures.

Team Collaboration

Work cooperatively with fellow installers, the Install Manager, and the office team to coordinate daily schedules, job assignments, and material needs.

Share field observations, installation tips, and customer feedback with the team to support continuous improvement in processes and quality.

Assist with training and onboarding of new installers, sharing best practices, and demonstrating proper techniques in the field.

Participate in team meetings, safety briefings, and any required training sessions as scheduled.

Support a positive, accountable team culture by showing up prepared, communicating openly, and holding yourself to the same high standards you expect of others.
