POSITION SUMMARY


This newly created Chief Operating Officer (COO) position offers an exceptional opportunity for a proven leader to help advance our mission and drive meaningful growth across our multi-campus Continuing Care Retirement Community. Designed to elevate operational excellence and strengthen the organization for the future, the COO will play a pivotal role in shaping our next chapter and enhancing the lives of the residents we serve.



The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides executive leadership and operational oversight for a multi-campus Continuing Care Retirement Community. Reporting to the CEO, the COO is responsible for resident service excellence, regulatory compliance, strong financial results, and the long-term sustainability of assets across all campuses and care levels.




The COO leads capital planning, infrastructure management, and operational performance, ensuring that facilities, technology, and resources are strategically maintained and aligned with the organization’s growth and aging-in-place goals. Collaboration with the CFO and executive team is essential to optimize capital allocation, facility investments, and operational efficiency.



Overseeing campus operations, project management, human resources, and information technology, the COO manages both outsourced and internal services. This role ensures that strategic objectives translate into high-quality, consistent operations while building a resident-centered culture across independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and ancillary services.



REQUIREMENTS



Operational Leadership & Infrastructure Oversight


Provide executive oversight for daily operations, ensuring consistency and high service standards across all campuses and contractual partnerships.

Lead campus directors and department heads to achieve operational, financial, and quality goals.

Oversee infrastructure management, including facilities, technology, and operational support, ensuring alignment with long-term campus sustainability.

Direct HR and IT functions, including outsourced partnerships.

Serve as the Integrator for the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), ensuring cross-functional alignment and execution.



Capital Management & Asset Stewardship


Collaborate with the CFO to lead capital planning, allocation, and infrastructure investments.

Oversee capital projects, facility upgrades, and modernization efforts, ensuring projects stay on budget and schedule.

Manage vendor relationships and support campus development and expansion initiatives.



Resident Experience & Quality of Care


Champion a resident-centered culture focused on dignity, choice, and engagement. Ensure high standards of care and service, monitor resident satisfaction, and drive continuous improvement.

Support program innovation and ensure facilities and technology enhance the resident experience.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Maintain readiness for regulatory inspections, oversee infrastructure compliance, and partner with clinical leaders on risk management and quality assurance.



Financial & Business Performance


Work with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and capital strategies.

Monitor performance metrics, identify efficiencies, and support long-range planning for capacity, investments, and scalability.

Use dashboards to inform decision-making.



People & Culture


Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing teams.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and servant leadership.

Support succession planning, workforce engagement, and regulatory compliance.



Strategic Execution


Translate strategy into operational and infrastructure plans.

Lead cross-campus initiatives, including expansions and new services, and align operations with long-term planning.

Act as a liaison between campus leadership, executive team, and board committees.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in leadership positions in healthcare, hospitality, or multi-site service organizations.
  • Proven leadership in multi-campus operations and facilities management.
  • Experience with capital planning and large-scale projects preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CCRC operations and regulations.
  • Strategic, data-driven leader with strong financial acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead organizations through growth and change.
  • Regular travel between campuses required, with occasional evening or weekend availability.
  • Experience leading the successful implementation and integration of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) across an organization, including demonstrated ability to align teams, drive accountability, and foster a culture of operational excellence is preferred.
