Location: 100% Remote (Candidates MUST be local to Scottsdale, AZ or Valley Forge, PA)

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Cost Basis Specialist to deliver high-touch client service on complex financial accounts. Leveraging advanced cost basis acumen, you will independently research, analyze, and execute processing strategies to ensure maximum accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance. In addition to direct account oversight, you will serve as a resource for the team-providing guidance, training, and research assistance to associates while supporting audits, reporting, and broader department initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Request Processing & Quality Control: Review high-complexity client requests for accuracy, good order, and strict adherence to IRS and regulatory guidelines. Collaborate across departments to fulfill requests promptly.
• Cost Basis Accounting: Calculate, update, and maintain cost basis information for client holdings using proprietary systems, ensuring compliance with established legal guidelines and internal procedures.
• Historical Reconstruction: Analyze historical financial records and data provided by clients or external investment firms to reconstruct and verify the accuracy of cost basis history.
• Corporate Actions & Product Validation: Evaluate corporate actions to determine cost basis impacts. Review systematically generated output, identify disparities, make necessary adjustments, and verify that client-facing materials accurately reflect updated data.
• Team Guidance & Audits: Support statement audits, generate correspondence, analyze reporting trends, and assist with training and onboarding for junior team members.

Qualifications

• Education: Undergraduate degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and direct industry experience.
• Experience: Background in accounting, finance, or the brokerage industry strongly preferred.
• Product Knowledge: Familiarity with brokerage products preferred. Ability and willingness to upskill in complex areas such as Corporate Actions reconciliation, Options, Margin accounting, Fixed Income, and Convertible Securities.
• Technical Skills: Computer proficiency required; ability to quickly master proprietary financial software and database tools.
