Job description

JOB PURPOSE

The Driver ensures safe and reliable transportation services for individuals with disabilities. This position plays a critical role in supporting individuals' independence by providing transportation to community activities, appointments, and work locations while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.


SUPERVISOR: FTS Supervisor

POSITION TYPE: Hourly


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate agency vehicles to transport individuals with disabilities safely.
  • Ensure passengers are securely seated and properly restrained.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, both inside and outside, and conduct basic safety checks before trips.
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules while ensuring timely arrivals.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals with disabilities to provide support and reassurance during transport.
  • Assist passengers in boarding and exiting vehicles as needed.
  • Report vehicle maintenance needs and safety concerns to the supervisor.

All other duties assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and any subsequent background check after employment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Missouri Class E chauffeur's license within 14 days of hire.
  • Successfully complete employment-related training as directed.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques.
  • Ability to operate various vehicle types safely, including passenger vans.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and emergency response skills.
  • Ability to document incidents, mileage, and vehicle maintenance needs.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining vehicle cleanliness inside and outside.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently and perform team lifts for heavier loads when appropriate.
  • Extended periods of driving and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Frequent interaction with individuals with disabilities in transportation settings.
