The Technical Project Manager serves as a central coordination point across engineering, operations, leadership, and customer-facing teams. This role is responsible for maintaining visibility across multiple concurrent projects, supporting organizational prioritization decisions, and driving execution of critical initiatives.

Success in this role requires the ability to create clarity in dynamic environments, understand technical projects involving both hardware and software, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and help leadership understand the impact of changing priorities, resource constraints, and execution risks.

This is an individual contributor role with significant organizational influence. The successful candidate will lead through collaboration, communication, planning, and analytical thinking rather than direct authority.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Execution

  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables for product development initiatives and customer deployment projects.
  • Coordinate activities across engineering, operations, suppliers, customers, and leadership teams.
  • Track project progress and proactively identify risks, dependencies, bottlenecks, and schedule impacts.
  • Facilitate project reviews, planning sessions, milestone assessments, and execution meetings.
  • Ensure project information remains accurate, organized, and accessible.

Organizational Visibility and Decision Support

  • Maintain visibility across active engineering projects and customer deployments.
  • Develop and communicate project schedules, dependencies, resource constraints, and execution risks.
  • Analyze the impact of proposed priority changes, new customer commitments, and resource reallocations.
  • Support leadership planning discussions by providing accurate and actionable project information.
  • Help identify organizational bottlenecks before they impact execution.
  • Enable leadership to make informed decisions regarding priorities, schedules, resources, and tradeoffs.

Resource Coordination and Prioritization Support

  • Work closely with engineering leadership to understand team capacity, competing priorities, and resource constraints.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple concurrent initiatives involving shared technical resources.
  • Help evaluate tradeoffs associated with changing priorities and emerging business opportunities.
  • Ensure stakeholders understand the implications of schedule changes and resource allocation decisions.

Customer Deployment Coordination

  • Coordinate project activities associated with commercial customer deployments and implementation efforts.
  • Track deployment schedules, deliverables, dependencies, and commissioning activities.
  • Serve as a coordination point between internal teams, customers, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Help ensure customer commitments are understood, communicated, and successfully executed.

Process Improvement and Tooling

  • Evaluate existing project management processes and tools, recommending improvements where they provide meaningful value.
  • Leverage established systems when effective and introduce new approaches when they improve visibility, planning, or execution.
  • Configure and maintain project management systems used for planning, scheduling, reporting, and execution.
  • Develop scalable project management practices that support growth while maintaining organizational agility.
  • Promote adoption of practical project management best practices throughout the organization.
  • Provide guidance and training related to project planning methodologies and project management tools.

Communication and Reporting

  • Provide regular project status updates to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Communicate project risks, schedule changes, resource concerns, and mitigation plans.
  • Facilitate alignment between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Create concise executive-level summaries that communicate project health, priorities, and execution risks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities and shared resources.
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams developing hardware and software products.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Strong systems-thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to translate complex technical and project information into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial and industrial energy storage systems.
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), power electronics, renewable energy systems, industrial automation, or related technologies.
  • Experience managing hardware product development projects.
  • Experience coordinating customer deployments, commissioning activities, or field implementations.
  • Experience in startup or high-growth technology environments.
  • Familiarity with rapid product development and fast time-to-market methodologies.
  • Experience balancing multiple engineering projects with shared technical resources.
  • Familiarity with Agile, hybrid Agile, milestone-driven planning, and quarterly planning approaches.
  • Experience with Jira, Jira Advanced Roadmaps, Gantt chart planning tools, Confluence, or similar project management platforms.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management training is a plus.

Success in This Role

Within the first year, a successful candidate will:

  • Establish a trusted and repeatable system for tracking project status, priorities, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Create visibility into engineering capacity, project dependencies, and execution risks.
  • Enable leadership to quickly evaluate tradeoffs associated with changing priorities and new opportunities.
  • Improve confidence in project schedules, commitments, and delivery forecasts.
  • Successfully coordinate multiple product development initiatives and customer deployments simultaneously.
  • Introduce pragmatic process improvements that improve execution without creating unnecessary overhead.
  • Become a trusted advisor to leadership regarding project planning, prioritization, and execution risk.
  • Elevate REON's overall project management capabilities and organizational effectiveness.

They enjoy creating clarity, helping teams stay aligned, and enabling better decisions through better information.

Most importantly, they are a builder who can help REON become more effective as we continue to grow.
