The Director ofHotel Openings (DHO) is responsible for 1) Overseeing critical timelines fromgroundbreaking to the official ribbon cutting, 2) Recruiting hotel leadershipand staff, and establishing property-wide standard operating procedures, 3)Ensuring vendor relationships are established and aligned with corporatestandards, 4) manage comprehensive pre-opening timelines, critical pathschedules, and opening checklists. As Director of Hotel Openings, you'llcollaborate with key stakeholders to ensure an opening on time, and theachievement of financial and guest satisfaction goals from day one.
• Serve as theprimary operational liaison with hotel owners and provide executive projectupdates.
• Coordinatecross-functional meetings among internal departments and external partners.Communicate project status, risks, and solutions.
• Partner withHuman Resources and operations to recruit hotel leadership and departmentheads.
• Lead andsupport General Manager onboarding.
• Coordinateorientation and pre-opening training schedules. Assist with staffing plans andlabor forecasting
• Fosteraccountability and collaboration among opening teams. Develop comprehensiveoperational readiness plans.
• Ensure allhotel departments are fully prepared before opening. Validate departmentstandard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Partner withDevelopment, Design & Construction, Ownership, and General Contractorsthroughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate insite inspections and punch list reviews along with conduct operationalreadiness assessments during construction.
• Coordinateprocurement of operating supplies. Ensure all operational spaces are deliveredaccording to brand specifications.
• Coordinatefurniture, fixtures, equipment (FF&E), operating supplies and equipment(OS&E), and technology installations. Ensure testing of property technologybefore opening.
• Verify lifesafety systems, security, and regulatory compliance prior to opening. Workingclosely with key collaborators to align efforts.
• Ensurecompliance with brand operating standards, coordinate brand inspections andquality assurance reviews, verify completion of all required brandcertifications to ensure successful brand approval prior to opening.
• Ensureguest-facing areas meet presentation and service expectations.
• Coordinate allpre-opening operational training & facilitate opening week execution plans.
• Ensure guestservice teams are prepared to deliver brand service standards from day one.
• Conductpost-opening evaluations and document lessons learned, assisting leadership inresolving startup operational challenges.
• Ensuresuccessful transition from project team to regional operations, provideoperational support during the first 30-90 days.
