Mold Setter

Location: Akron, Ohio

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Mold Setter to join a growing manufacturing team supporting high-volume plastic molding operations. This is a hands-on role responsible for performing mold changes, setting up production equipment, and ensuring machines are running safely and efficiently to meet production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform mold changes safely and efficiently to support production schedules
• Set up molding machines and auxiliary equipment for production runs
• Verify machines are operating within established process parameters
• Perform machine startups following mold changes and ensure production readiness
• Troubleshoot setup and processing issues to minimize downtime
• Inspect tooling and equipment for wear or damage and report any concerns
• Work closely with Production, Process Technicians, Quality, and Maintenance to resolve manufacturing issues
• Assist with preventive maintenance activities during scheduled downtime
• Complete setup documentation and maintain accurate production records
• Follow all quality standards, work instructions, and safety procedures
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing setup times and improving efficiency

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Mold Setter within an injection molding environment
• Experience performing mold changes and machine setup
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to safely use hand tools, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment
• Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and cooling systems associated with molding equipment
• Ability to read setup sheets and production documentation
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts
• Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with high-volume plastic injection molding equipment
• Knowledge of process troubleshooting and startup procedures
• Forklift or overhead crane experience
• Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives
