Position Summary: The Senior CAD Manager leads and optimizes CAD operations, ensuring high-quality design outputs and successful project outcomes. Will oversee CAD team development, implement best practices, and manage project workflows (inclusive of permitting process form beginning to end), while also identifying issues in processes, team member performance and work collaboratively with addressing and correcting issues.
Essential Job Functions:
- Identify potential operational issues and redesign processes to improve functionality
- Develop and update project schedules; manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Create Construction/Shop drawings using 2D or 3D drafting software programs.
- Utilize AutoCAD and other programs to develop layout and diagrams, with attention to detail.
- Consult ICC/California Building Codes, technical handbooks and guidelines and assist with research and code compliance.
- Assist with the completion of drawings re-lined by Project Managers and City Officials.
- Create drawings for industry specific projects based on preliminary sketches, concepts and data.
- Prepare, modify and maintain accurate catalog drawings from existing and new products for production and quality control.
- Prepare product assembly or construction drawings for existing/new products as needed for sales staff and special drawings for plant projects as needed.
- Must be comfortable in a leadership role, adapt and communicate when sudden and unexpected changes occur with projects.
- Scan and keep construction documents orderly and updated.
- Be able to multi-task and willing to continually learn and accept additional responsibilities.
- Work directly with Owner, Engineers, project managers and Field Supervisors.
- Be able to prepare and update construction documents, (primarily Architectural with some structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical).
- Lead and manage the dept, serve as a point of contact and reference to other drafters and project managers.
- Will be responsible to train, lead and identify performance issues as well as evaluate dept drafters.
Permitting Process Requirements:
Ensure all permits are filed, updated and in process. Follow up and provide regular reports and status on pending permits.
Requirements:
- 3+ years recent experience in related use of AutoCAD software (Bluebeam a plus)
- Have knowledge and be familiar with basic construction document requirements and the permitting process (cold storage construction a plus).
- Superb creative problem-solving, organization, and time management skills
- Self-motivated with Strong, clear and service-oriented communication and presentation skills
- Must possess the ability to read and interpret sketches, construction, and civil plans. Ability to read blue prints.
- Must be detail oriented and able to handle several projects at once with minimum help from start to finish. Ability to meet guidelines and timelines.
- Ability to work within a team and proactively create harmonious and professional relationships.
- Comfortable with delivering and receiving constructive criticism to other drafters and team members
- Proficient in all segments of Microsoft Office, (Excel/PowerPoint and word a plus).
- Great mathematical skills, Reliable transportation
- An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or technical school is a plus.
- Ability to work overtime if and when required.
Physical Requirements:
Possibility of Lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of up to 50lbs.
Have the ability to sit, stand and walk for up to 8 (or more) hours a day.
Some tasks require the ability to perceive sounds and visual cues or signals.
(Commute/travel as needed).
