Quality Engineer – 1st Shift Manufacturing | Sterling Heights, MI
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Shift: 1st Shift (Day Shift)
Job Type: Full-Time
We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Sterling Heights, MI. This role focuses on ensuring product quality, improving manufacturing processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Quality Engineer Responsibilities- Develop and maintain quality control systems and procedures in a manufacturing environment
- Analyze production processes to improve product quality and efficiency
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T
- Support APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and control plans
- Conduct internal audits and support external/customer audits
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality issues
- Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean / Six Sigma)
- Ensure compliance with ISO quality standards and customer requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of quality tools (FMEA, PPAP, APQP, SPC, CAPA)
- Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone)
- Ability to read blueprints and GD&T
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience in automotive or aerospace manufacturing
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 standards
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (a plus)
