Job description

Job Summary:

The Avionics Repair Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing aviation instruments and avionics assemblies to the component level, including diagnosis and replacement of failed electronic components.

While experience with aviation electronics is a plus, it is not required. We welcome candidates with experience in electronics repair from industries such as military, medical devices, consumer electronics, or similar technical fields. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to familiarize qualified technicians with aviation-specific systems, instruments, and regulatory requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair faulty equipment, conduct comprehensive tests, and calibrate systems to meet the required specifications.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all electronic devices work properly and there is no interference from other electronic devices.
  • Handle large mechanical assemblies.
  • Must be capable of using a wide variety of hand tools such as (screwdrivers, ignition wrenches, small diagonal pliers, small vice grips, small needle nose pliers, small diagonal cutters, small diagonal cutters, small bench vice, etc.).
  • Work on a wide range of aircraft instrumentation (e.g., airspeeds, altimeters, vertical speed indicators, fuel gauges, tachometers, torque gauges, pressure transmitters, etc.).


Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on electronic bench repair experience, including component-level troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and technical documentation.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aviation or avionics repair experience is preferred but not required. Aviation, military, industrial, medical device, or other precision electronics repair experience is welcomed. Aviation experience is preferred but not required, as comprehensive on-the-job training is provided.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, signal generators, and power supplies.
  • Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Aviation Maintenance, Aeronautics, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Equivalent military or technical training and relevant electronics repair experience will also be considered.

QAI also has a sister company (QAI Aviation) which operates out of both the Allegheny County and Rostraver Airport. QAI Aviation is an FAA certified repair station that has the capabilities to complete avionics installations, upgrades, maintenance and repairs for both fixed wing and rotor wing aircrafts.
