Job Description Job Title: Welding Supervisor Location: Near London, ON Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Shift: 5:30 PM - 4:00 AM Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per year Position Summary The Welding Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating a team of welders and fitters in a structural steel manufacturing environment. This role ensures production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The successful candidate will provide technical guidance, oversee welding operations, support employee development, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Production & Scheduling Supervise and coordinate daily activities of welders, fitters, and fabrication personnel. Schedule and prioritize work to meet production targets and project deadlines. Review fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and work orders to ensure accurate execution.

Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to resolve production issues. Monitor workflow, labor utilization, and productivity. Enter and verify employee hours in the ADP system and review payroll reports for accuracy.

Welding Quality & Technical Oversight Ensure all welding activities comply with approved welding procedures and applicable industry standards. Conduct in-process inspections and monitor weld quality. Support quality inspections, including visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements.

Assist with welder qualification testing, certification maintenance, and skills development. Promote best practices in fit-up, weld sequencing, distortion control, and finishing. Investigate welding defects and implement corrective actions to reduce rework and scrap.

Health, Safety & Housekeeping Enforce company safety policies and procedures. Ensure proper use of PPE, welding equipment, cranes, hoists, and material handling devices. Identify and address workplace hazards and safety concerns.

Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation. Maintain organized work areas and high housekeeping standards. Leadership & Employee Relations Provide daily leadership, coaching, and technical support to the welding team.

Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment. Training & Continuous Improvement Identify employee training and development needs. Train team members on new welding procedures, equipment, and fabrication methods.

Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and quality. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workflow, tooling, fixtures, and material handling. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of welding and fabrication experience in structural steel or heavy manufacturing.

Minimum 3 years of supervisory or lead-hand experience. CWB Welding Supervisor Certification (or eligibility to obtain). Strong knowledge of FCAW and GMAW welding processes.

Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols. Solid understanding of welding quality standards and inspection practices. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with computer systems and production reporting.
