Position OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Drive Unit Test Technician to support drive unit test and validation activities for electric vehicle programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing dynamometer (dyno) testing, setting up test equipment, collecting and validating test data, and working closely with engineers to ensure accurate performance, durability, and reliability validation. This role requires strong automotive testing experience, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, schedule-driven laboratory environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and execute drive unit dynamometer (dyno) tests according to engineering test plans and procedures.
Install and configure drive units, instrumentation, and test equipment prior to testing.
Monitor test execution, collect and validate performance, durability, and reliability data.
Troubleshoot test equipment, instrumentation, and setup issues to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to ensure accurate test configurations and execution.
Document test results, observations, and equipment issues while maintaining detailed test records.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for dyno test procedures, equipment, and lab operations.
Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and testing protocols.
Prioritize testing activities to meet project schedules and validation milestones.
Required QualificationsMinimum 2+ years of automotive experience, preferably in testing or validation.
Hands-on experience supporting or performing drive unit, powertrain, or dynamometer (dyno) testing.
Experience with test setup, instrumentation, and data collection in a laboratory environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to install and configure test components.
Ability to troubleshoot test equipment and resolve setup or execution issues.
Experience documenting test procedures, results, and validation data.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, schedule-driven testing environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate with engineers and technicians.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with electric vehicle (EV) drive unit or powertrain testing.
Familiarity with data acquisition systems and test validation processes.
Knowledge of performance, durability, and reliability testing methodologies.
Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives within testing or validation laboratories.
