Position SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Compliance Officer who will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as company policies and best practices. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this role involves supporting senior management in managing risks and navigating US Federal, State, and Territory requirements.
Responsibilities- Oversee the Company's Compliance program, including BSA/AML
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, including but not limited to BSA/AML laws and regulations, applicable banking laws as well as company policies and procedures
- Proactively advise the business on the state of compliance, new and emerging risks as well as potential changes to laws and regulations
- Create and/or maintain, as well as execute, effective compliance policies, standards and procedures
- Comprehensively prepare documentation and materials in response to internal and external requests
- Conduct thorough horizon scanning, ensuring potential legislative updates are tracked and reported appropriately
- Create and maintain compliance tools, reports, and disseminate findings to peers and senior management
- Work with the first line to develop and document effective controls to ensure ongoing compliance, as well as to advise on various other compliance and legal matters, as required
- Prepare materials for and respond to regulatory requests and audits, as required
- Develop strong risk management processes and methodologies
- Ensure that regulatory reports, audits, and license renewals are completed and submitted on time
RequirementsMust Have - Fully bilingual (English/Spanish) with superior/advanced oral and written proficiency in both languages
- University Degree a requirement
- Minimum 10 years' experience in compliance, legal, risk or comparable role
- Member of the Colegio de Abogados y Abogadas de Puerto Rico (CAAPR)
- Understanding of Puerto Rico General Corporations Act
- Excellent analytical and legal commentary skills
- Deep working knowledge of BSA/AML laws and regulations
- Ability to multi-task, to handle pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Must be organized, detail oriented, able to work independently and handle multiple priorities simultaneously with strong operations and project management skills
- Acknowledge and observe strict confidentiality requirements
Nice to Have- Licensed to practice law in Puerto Rico and/or another US State
- Understanding of Puerto Rico Banking laws/US Banking Laws

Compensation PackageThose who meet service or hours requirements are also eligible for: monthly benefits allowance and paid holidays/vacation/sick. All benefits are provided in accordance with and subject to the terms of the applicable plan or program and may change from time to time.
Final compensation is determined by market conditions, location, and the candidate's experience, skills, and education. This role may also be eligible for performance-based incentive programs and total compensation may include variable incentives, such as bonuses and commissions.
