Job description
Overview
Pathology Lab Assistant will assist the Lab Manager with specimen processing, quality assurance on each pathology ensuring receipt and accessioning specimens.
The schedule for this position is M-F 9:30 to 6 and based in Westford, MA.
Responsibilities- Day-to-day path lab operations with commitment to providing the highest quality service to patients.
- Daily confirmation of receipt and accessioning specimens.
- Maintain quality control to ensure reliability of processing procedures.
- Verify patient demographics, physician data, tests requested, time and date of collection, appropriate clinical information and all other pertinent data found on laboratory request forms.
- Identifies problems with specimen types, missing information etc. and works with clinical staff to resolve them.
- Accurately enters patient information into laboratory information system (LIS).
- Communicate to manager to maintain sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties.
- Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with practice staff.
- Provide advanced problem solving, troubleshooting, interpretation/consultation, verification of specimen quality.
- Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the department and APDerm.

- Support APDerm's mission and culture of high-quality standards by carrying out applicable policies, procedures and established industry standards, laws and regulations. Examples include adhering to privacy and data protection practices, ensuring a safe workplace, and reporting observed or suspected behavior and actions that do not meet APDerm standards.
- Complete all assigned required training by the deadline including, but not limited the Code of Conduct, Privacy & Data Security, and OSHA.
- HS degree and BA preferred.Â
- Accuracy and close attention to detail.
- Strong analytical judgement.
- Visual acuity (including color discrimination) to distinguish fine detail.
- Good organizational skills, ability to triage and prioritize.
The salary for this role will range from USD $19.83 to 26.91 per hour based on full-time employment. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to years of experience, location, relevant skills, training, education, etc. Certain roles may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives.
