Job description

Maple Leaf Dairy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Control Specialist to join our team in Woodstock, Ontario. As a Quality Control Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our dairy products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and consistency. You will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, tests, and analyses throughout the production process, from raw milk intake to finished product packaging.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
  • Perform laboratory tests, including chemical, microbiological, and sensory evaluations, to assess product quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Monitor and verify sanitation practices and procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic production environment.
  • Identify and investigate any deviations from quality standards, and collaborate with production teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and protocols.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality and food safety.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control within the food or dairy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (CFIA, HACCP, GMP).
  • Proficiency in laboratory testing techniques and equipment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, as needed.
